Kitty pulled on her helmet and strapped it in place. She and Tamsin had left the Institute and arrived at the bike derby with an hour to spare. Being the people they were, they had double and triple-checked everything on their bikes and then got suited up for the event.

The organizers had split the group of riders into two sides, and Kitty looked across the arena at Tamsin. She knew that her best friend was feeling the same buzzing in her veins that she was as they got ready to compete. There was nothing like this in the world, and it was one of the few places that Kitty was very careful not to use her powers. It was one of those things where she just wanted to compete like the other riders. Phasing through the obstacles would be cheating and Kitty Pryde never cheated if she could help it.

When the starter fired the pistol, Kitty took off on her bike, doing her best to put space between her and the guys close by her before she hit the first obstacle. If she could hit the first obstacle before she got hit, then she'd be counting this as a success. She signaled to Tamsin with her left hand and hit the ramp.

So I had my first date with Andrew on Saturday night... and I'm hoping to do it again. I had a lot of fun with him and I don't think I made an ass out of myself. I hope.

Hey! Did you see the ad for the dirt bike demolition derby? Something tells me it's time for another appearance of our dangerous duo. Only, we can't tell Doug this time. Poor guy nearly had a heart attack when we told him we were doing the last derby.
